You've got to be kidding...

*** WARNING! This post contains language not suitable for anyone. If the F-bomb offends you, do not read...that is all ***

No, I'm not. It was a good weekend. I got to golf on Saturday and had sushi at the Wasabi Sushi Bar in E'ville - faboosh. Mr. Realist and our two friends had never had edamame before. I ordered an appetizer of it, and everyone loves it! Go Soybeans!

Early Saturday morning (2am), Mr. Realist's sister Erika had her baby. Aubree Marie, 7 lbs, 4 oz, 21" long, dark dark hair and blue eyes. Mr. Realist says she's beautiful (he went up and saw her yesterday). You might ask why I didn't go. There's a valid reason.

My sister and I had decided that we were taking Mom Dreamer to the Brickyard 400 this year for her 50th birthday (she turned on Friday the 24th). We got lost once in Indianapolis going to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway...and once on the way home. Damn directions. :) It was an awesome race. I'll be putting pics and video (hopefully) up on my FB page. The videos will probably be pretty loud, so watch the volume. We were on the short straight between curves three and four. No wrecks, only three yellow flags, and no wrecks. If you like NASCAR, live races are definitely better ... well ... live!

~~
Seeing as how I wasn't going to get back until late, I took today off well in advance. Slept in until about 11am (Mr. Realist was out until about noon), lounged around, watched Shoot 'Em Up and The Wedding Singer (two of hubby's favorite movies), showered, and got ready for my ball game. We were playing the best team in the league this evening, and I think we beat ourselves before the game even started. I played shortstop today - made three catches to get the girl out, missed a couple (they were moving loads faster than I was). Got two hits the two at bats I had...left field just knew what the hell she was doing, so I was out. We lost... 20-something to nothing. *sigh*

~~
Drove back home and stopped at McDonald's because I was jonesing for Chicken McNuggets. Pulled in (I wasn't the first up, so had to wait a bit), placed my order at 8.29pm. I pulled up, she took my money, and I pulled on to the next window. A tidbit about the first window - say 'thank you' or SOMETHING. Be pleasant - you have a job, right? A sucky one, yes, but you have a job. Anyway...second window hands me my Diet Dr. Pepper (yum) and asks me to pull up, that they've just dropped more nuggets (time frame from ordering to second window - about three minutes). I do. Pulled out my mobile and started playing solitare. I'd look up at the clock every now and then, and it really didn't register that I'd placed my order at 8.29, and it was now 8.45!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! I shut off my car, took my keys and the receipt in with me, and waited for someone to be free. Girl asks me if there was something wrong.
"Yes - should it really take almost 20 minutes for 10 nuggets?" I wasn't nice about it.
Her: "Hey X - did you take those nuggets out?"
X: "Huh? What nuggets?"
Her: "The 10-piece nuggets. She's been sitting out there waiting for them." X walks around to the front where my empty bag is sitting with the counter receipt in it.
X: "I need a 10-piece nugget!"
Me: "No, I just want my money back. I placed my order at 8.29, and it's almost 8.49. Shouldn't take 20 minutes to make these.

Now, at this point, you might say, "Mrs. Dreamer, it takes x time for the nuggets to cook." I get that. But when I walked in, I watched the guy making stuff behind the counter fill not one, but TWO 10-piece nugget boxes and slide them across to drive through. Not filling my bag, but someone else's who'd ordered long after me. I was getting righteously pissed off.

X: "What kind of sauce do you want for these?"
Me: "I don't want any sauce, I just want my money back."
Her: hollers at the manager: "You need to come up here, now please." Manager comes up. I have to explain to him...again...what happened. I'm doing fine - I didn't blow up at anyone, I didn't swear to anyone. He turns and tells the guy: "I need a 10-piece nugget, please - what sauce, ma'am?" I'm holding my tongue.
Me: "I don't want any nuggets, I don't want any sauce, I just want my money back so I can go get something to eat. This is ridiculous." He gives me my money back, and as I'm leaving, the words "Wendy's, here I come!" rather loudly as I walk out the door.

Are you fucking kidding me? Are you FUCKING kidding me? I don't want your fucking nuggets or your damned sauce. I want dinner, and you just lost out on my business.

I'm boycotting McDonald's for, at the very least, the next month - fuck you, MickeyD's. You won't be getting any more of my money any time soon.

Heepwah, and be safe out there,
A still very angry (yet satisfied, because I had a cheese & broccoli potato and a small Frosty from Wendy's - yummo)

Softball and Stuff

We're 2-4 now. Lost last night like 12 to 17 (I think - they weren't really keeping track). I started in left again, and moved to short after three innings. She's finally understanding that she's not that good anymore!

~~
Anyway...have you ever had one of those days? One of those days where you wake up and you don't know why, but you just have to be a crab? One of those days that you look at the man sleeping next to you and you just want him to go in the other room, snoring and all? One of those days that you could just fall asleep at your desk and not care who catches you? Where everything just kind of falls apart between your fingers, and it's like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands? Me either. It's the kind of day that I feel like I've failed everyone, including myself (that's a normal feeling, but who's counting?).

Don't get me wrong, I'm a generally happy person. But there are just some days that drive me up the wall.

I think it's all because of the circus in my brain and the twelve characters of children that run amok (did I even spell that right?), even though they're all adults, and the variable that is my life.

Ok...ok

I'm very sorry to those of you who sort-of look forward to my ramblings and such. I've been busy. Last week was the MLB All-Star Game in St. Louis, and since the company I work for makes all of the MLB's bases, I had to make sure everything got there in the right way at the right time. I think the All-Star Games and the playoffs and the World Series are the only times I begin to hate baseball.

Yes, me, the Dirt Diva, the sports fanatic, hates baseball at times.

~~
We're now 2-3 in softball. I've continued to play third base, except for last week: I played left (which is ok - there's action out in left). They figured out that if you hit it out to left, I'm going to catch it...and catch I did - four hits to me, three catches out and one throw in to third to stop a run going home. Not too bad. We were NOT playing a good fielding game...which became evident, once you see the score. We scored 17 runs all game, and we were holding them 25 to 17 at the bottom of the fifth. They scored 14 runs before we got a first out in the top of the sixth. It put the 'whore' in horrible! God, it was awful! Horrendous...miserable...and rather pathetic. *sigh* Hopefully we do better this week....

~~

Went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on Tuesday night. Great movie (if you're a bookie, like me, there were some things that just didn't...quite...fit...but one must take into consideration that not everyone who goes to see HP is a bookie), and cannot wait to see it again with Mr. Realist ('there's no way in hell I'm going to go see a movie at midnight!'). By Wednesday, I was running on about six or seven hours of sleep. I did well - I didn't grump at Mr. Realist Wednesday morning.

One of the girls I went with was very pregnant (like scheduled-for-a-C-section-on-Friday-morning-pregnant) (and because she's a dear friend, I even asked if we could reserve a couch at the theatre - was NOT expecting them to do so, but THANK YOU, ORPHEUM! Dead center of the back of the theatre is the best place to sit in my opinion!) and had commented earlier in the day to me 'the only way I'm leaving the movie is if my water breaks and that's only because I don't want to sit in a wet seat!' :) After the movie, she reveals that she's been contracting through the entire movie! Let's just put it this way: her section had to be rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon! Beautiful baby Skylar was born at 4pm on HP Premier Day! Love it!

~~
I'm debating. I have several stories that I have going all at once, and since I need and want to get one finished, I'd really like to put all of the others on the back burner...but every time I do, something else nibbles away at my brain until I'm forced to reason with it. Plot bunnies do not listen to reason well. They're demanding and rude and forceful and obnoxious (I seem to be in lusting with the adjectives this evening, huh?) and I cannot seem to get my way in my own brain! Let's put it this way - I have these main characters: Kati and Lalo, Charlie and Holly, Tristan and Mara, Lacie and Jake, Kalexya and Evan. All of their stories are in various stages of nowhere near completion. There are days when Kalexya beckons while Charlie and Holly moan about not getting their fair share of time. Then, when C&H DO get time, K&L complain that they're the eldest so they should get more of my time. L&J seem to be content to lounge around and drink beer, so they're sharing a pint with T&M. Good God. It's like having children, and I can't ship them off to my mother's because they're IN MY HEAD!

~~
There's a sporting chance that we'll be able to purchase the empty house next to us. Mr. Realist has to call the lawyer's office and the lady who owns the house in the next couple of days to see if we can buy it. It needs torn down: the roof, while it has new shingling, is caving in from the underside and leaks a bit; walls are sagging; there's stuff that I don't even want to think of growing in the crawlspace. We'd definitely be selling what we can and recycling what we don't if possible, and then leaving it until we have the money to build. It's a small lot, so would be good to add to our property. Just have to get the business end of it squared away. It'll be nice, since we could use it for storage until we get the spare room done and the basement sealed on our home!

~~
Well, my cake smells just about done, so I'm going to finish checking emails and stuff and not burn a cake and sign off for the evening. I will try to write more.

Today

Sitting here, eating my lunch, something just struck me as a bit off.

I'm sure everyone's heard that today, something will happen that won't happen for another one thousand years. Time and date would be 12 hours, 34 minutes, 56 seconds on the seventh month, eighth day, ninth year of the century. So it looks like this: 12:34:56 7/8/09

And that everyone missed it at 12.34 this morning.

HOWEVER...
If you want to get technical (or military, as the case may be), the hour this morning would have been 00:34:56, not 12:34:56....so this only happened in the afternoon, when the time is actually 12:34:56.

OR...
If you're a little more literal-minded, you could say it won't happen again for another one thousand years, and it'll happen twice - once in the morning, once in the evening. 12:34:56am and 12:34:56pm, just as it did today.

Bizarre, isn't it?

Just had to let you know what I was thinking (and it's usually something mental like this!)

How cute is this little guy? Saved from ihasahotdog dot com.
It's kind of how I felt today...for whatever-bloomin-reason, I have no idea. Got up early (8.30ish), gamed for almost two hours, showered, and headed for the Patch to hunt and gather for the week (read: grocery shop). We stopped for first breakfast at Denny's - gotta love the make-your-own-Grand Slam. Nom nom nom...

Hit up the ECE (read: Mart of Wal), and actually only wound up spending like $55! How? you might ask? There are several reasons:
1. There are only two of us
2. Dog food (for the dogs) and kitty food (for the rats) only needs to be purchased about every two weeks or so
3. About once a month, we become hoarders - buy loads of meat, frozen and canned veggies and fruits, breads, pizza; you name it, we've probably got it in the cart - and spend about $150

Unfortunately, we've noticed that Daisy (our Heinz 57 variety mutt) has been scratching... LOADS. She's got some hot spots, and we discovered they both have fleas! ACK! Two weekends ago, we sprayed the dog yard for fleas, flies, skeeters, grubs, ants, and the like (apparently, we need to do it once a week or so). So, we cleaned out the doghouse of all the remaining old straw and dirt and such.

*Note on the doghouse: it's three years old, designed and built by yours truly, painted, shingled, everything. This doghouse could have held two St. Bernards. Alas, we only have two mid-sized dogs weighing about a hundred pounds together. They love that house because the only way these two could be any closer would be if they were from the same litter.

However, when we moved some things around, we found some rotting corners where buggies were getting in behind the straw in the doghouse. Boo buggies. So we moved the doghouse. It sits on a horse barn rubber mat (so that water wouldn't collect underneath - which it didn't). Moving the mat led to the discovery of sixty-seven zillion ants! Got out the hose and sprayed them. They're dead now, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it.

Anyhoo... Mr. Realist destroyed the doghouse (it has served its purpose), and we scrambled to buy a new one. This one's insulated plastic. A bit smaller than the other one, but they both fit inside. :) $189...gone in a nanosecond.

So, we bought some flea shampoo, and gave them both outside baths. They're clean and flea-free and fluffy and smell like clean dogs. The four of us relaxed in the yard while we dried. Put Neosporin on their wounds and biospot (flea prevention) on their backs. Alas, we'll have to flea treat them twice a month and bathe them once a month just because the flies/fleas/little biting bastardos are horrid this year.

Tomorrow, I start our weight-loss challenge at work. $20, eight weeks. Every two weeks, the person who lost the most percentage based off of beginning weight wins 10% of the pot. Weeks four, six, and runner-up for eight get the same. Winner of the eight weeks gets the remaning 60%. Gonna have Kool-aid instead of high-calorie sodas. Starting over on the 30-Day Challenge in WiiActive. The last two weeks have been exhausting, and there were times I wasn't getting to bed until eleven pm anyway, let alone working out and then showering! Wish me luck and loss!

Enjoy, and Heepwah

OMG - 2-1!

Again, picture is saved from ihasahotdog dot com.... There are days when I wish that I could walk into our closet to never return because I found Narnia (or some semblance thereof).

~~

Our make-up game went smashingly! We won 29-4 (or 5, we kind of lost count). I played third the whole game and I think only one actually came my way. No worries, though.

My first at bat...strike on the mat. Ball. Strike out swinging (almost like I was swingin at a freakin' pinata!). CONNECTION on the fourth pitch. Rounded first and went to second. Paused a bit on second and Jason hollered at me to come three. Triple (and of course it figured that there was no one on base when I hit so lovely)!

Got made fun of a bit. Apparently my word is 'nice.' It's easy to yell, takes less time than 'good job' or 'way to go, ladies.' Young'uns...what can you do with them?

Will post more later.
